A Symposium for High School Students, Counselors, and Educators

Annually, the UNC Medical Center Volunteer Association is pleased to offer our Health Careers Symposium as a unique opportunity to high school students interested in pursuing a health career. Every year a new topic is chosen, followed by a tour of our many hospitals and departments, as well as hands-on experience with our patient simulators.

A typical Symposium schedule

  • Breakfast from 8 to 9 a.m.
  • Morning medical topic with guest speakers
  • Lunch
  • Afternoon hospital tours
  • The program is completed by 2:30 p.m.

Cars & small vans may park in our visitors parking deck (Dogwood Deck) on East Drive and Manning. Volunteer Services will furnish parking vouchers for the day.

School busses should drop off students first in front of Memorial Hospital and proceed to park in front of the Dean Smith Center off Skipper Bowles drive.

Bus drivers may walk or shuttle back from our S11 lot back to the hospital to enjoy the symposium.
