Child Life Programs

Prior to sending us your application, please make sure we have a current affiliation agreement with your North Carolina-based academic program. We do NOT accept students affiliated with out-of-state or online programs.

Our child life program emphasizes patient and family coping and adjustment to acute health needs. Most of the clinical placements will consist of a high volume of procedural preparation and support, coping skills interventions, and adjustment to medical conditions and the health care environment. While play is an intrinsic part of all that we do to normalize this experience for our patients, we rely heavily on volunteer support to facilitate play interactions. If you are seeking a play-based internship, please take this into consideration before applying.

Clinical supervision for students in the Child Life program is provided by a certified Child Life Specialist through the Child Life Certifying Committee.
