Matthew Whiteman

Pharmacy School: West Virginia University

PGY1: Mission Hospital

Bridgeport, WV

PGY1: Development of criteria for a discharge medication reconciliation review service for adult behavioral health patients

PGY2: Evaluating the management of persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn pre- and post-formulary addition of intravenous sildenafil

I chose UNC for my PGY2 for many reasons. The reputation UNC has for providing a high quality education to their residents always attracted me to this program and it was evident that pharmacy was greatly respected as part of the health care team. I really appreciate that UNC is a large academic medical center, but maintains the feel of being a close-knit family. It was clear that the many clinical opportunities along with teaching and leadership development would result in myself becoming a well-rounded, pediatric pharmacist. I am very proud to call myself a pharmacy Tar Heel!
