Why UNC

After completing my PGY1 training at UNC and consistently being surrounded by support, compassion, and opportunities that challenged me to step outside my comfort zone, I knew I wanted to continue my PGY2 residency training at UNC. During my PGY1 year, I saw first-hand how seamlessly pharmacists are integrated into both the inpatient and outpatient setting and how valued and impactful their clinical expertise was. A PGY2 in ambulatory care at UNC meant I was given the unique opportunity to work alongside our clinical pharmacist practitioners (CPP) who have their own templates, prescribe medications, and consistently go above and beyond to make sure every patient can access the care and medications they need. Nothing has made me feel more empowered than learning from our CPPs working at the top of their license and seeing the impact they have on patient care. Additionally, UNC has 16 different clinics within primary and specialty care, which has afforded me opportunities to explore every possible area of interest. I have no doubt UNC has, and will continue to prepare me, to become a great, well-rounded pharmacist.
