Why UNC
I chose to complete a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at UNC due to the clinical excellence of the pharmacy department, a uniquely impressive research program, and dedication to academic pursuits. UNC Medical Center's environment also promotes pharmacists to be engaged in guideline and protocol development and teaching students from the top pharmacy school in the country. I was impressed by the overall robustness of the pharmacy department and residency program, the impressive breadth of services available to experience on rotations, and the strong clinical training I would be receiving at UNC. What set UNC apart was the large residency class and the welcoming family feel that is evident throughout the program from the leadership on down. I knew that completing a residency at UNC would challenge me but would be extremely beneficial in reaching my professional goals and that coupled with the support and mentorship I knew I would receive throughout this difficult year was a bonus that compelled me to choose UNC.
