I was interested in UNC's psychiatry residency program because of the breadth of psychiatric rotations, teaching opportunities offered, and how integral pharmacy is to the healthcare team. While this remains true, and is still something I am incredibly excited about, I also found on my interview that UNC is where I felt most "at home." This is largely due to the program director and preceptors. After meeting everyone I quickly realized they are all incredibly knowledgeable, supportive and genuine. I know that I will be challenged this year (in the best way), but I also feel confident I will grow as a whole person and practitioner. As an added bonus, I am also super excited to have a psychiatry co-resident and a large residency class to enjoy the year with!
