During my residency search, I was looking for a program that would provide opportunities to practice pharmacy in a progressive environment, gain experience in didactic and clinical pharmacy education, and obtain mentorship to facilitate my professional and personal development.
UNC Medical Center fit all of these criteria with its large pharmacy department that is focused on advancing patient care and pharmacy education. UNC Medical Center has preceptors that practice in every clinical specialty, and are highly valued members of multidisciplinary healthcare teams. In addition, the alliance between UNC Medical Center and the UNC Eshleman School of Pharmacy provides ample opportunities to develop as a preceptor and a clinical instructor. However, all of the opportunities offered to UNC Medical Center pharmacy residents are balanced by the large support network and mentorship from the pharmacy residency leadership and preceptors.
