Rotation Title

  • Consult Liaison Psychiatry
  • Academia with Psychiatric Focus

Rotation Description:

The Consult Liaison (CL) Psychiatry rotation is a learning experience in which the learner will develop skills in the management of medically ill patients and involves the timely recognition and treatment of mental health conditions while coordinating with other medical providers to provide holistic patient care.  A CL service is one collaborative care model where a pharmacist can make an impact in managing medications in medically complicated patients. This rotation is a combined Inpatient CL psychiatry service (4.5 days/week) and outpatient CL psychiatric clinic (0.5 day/week).

The Academia with a Psychiatric Focus rotation is a learning experience in which the learner will develop skills in unique pharmacy practice environments such as teaching or mentoring pharmacy students in a didactic setting, college of pharmacy leadership committees and health care related professional societies. By the end of the Academia rotation, the resident should have a basic understanding of the structure of a college of pharmacy,  the roles and responsibilities a clinical pharmacist can have as a faculty member within the institution, and a better understanding of their own teaching style and philosophy and how they would like to continue to develop their teaching skills throughout their career.
