Behavioral Health Emergency Medicine

Rotation Description:

This acute care rotation on the Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) team provides a clinical setting appropriate for the resident to participate in management of the mentally ill who are actively withdrawing from substances, acutely agitated, suicidal and/or homicidal.  Residents learn how to triage, reconcile home medications, de-escalate in the setting of acute agitation, and manage forced medications per North Carolina General Statutes.
