Lung Transplant/Thoracic Surgery

Rotation Description:

The pulmonary transplant/thoracic surgery rotation is an inpatient acute care experience designed to develop a learner’s skills in participation in a multidisciplinary environment to provide optimal patient care to transplant recipients. The Pulmonary Transplant service is a consult service consisting of an attending physician, one fellow-level physician, inpatient transplant coordinator, pharmacists, and pharmacy students.  The pulmonary transplant team is multidisciplinary in nature - other providers with an active presence include Nurse Practitioners, Dieticians, Social Workers, Financial Counselors, as well as Pharmacists.  Interaction with all of these healthcare professionals, as well as consult teams specializing in care of specific medical problems, can be expected.
