Rotation Description
The pharmacy resident will be involved in the care of complex neonates and pediatric patients in both the Newborn Critical Care Center and Pediatric Surgery Service. The resident will independently participate in clinical rounds and is expected to design and implement age-appropriate pharmacotherapy plans, provide accurate and timely responses to pediatric drug information questions, collect and monitor patient specific information to assess the efficacy of drug therapy, review medication orders, respond to code blue emergencies, and demonstrate knowledge of pathophysiology, pharmacotherapy, and complications of disease states commonly seen within neonatal and surgical patients. The multidisciplinary team consists of attending physicians, attending surgeons, medical residents, pharmacist, nurse coordinator, and bedside nurses. The resident will work closely with other healthcare professionals to provide therapeutic drug monitoring and answer drug information questions.
