Chemotherapy Infusion Pharmacy (CHIP) Staffing Experience

Rotation Description:

The Oncology Staffing Block is designed to provide the resident medication distribution experience required to effectively manage Oncology patients. In this longitudinal experience, Oncology PGY2 Pharmacy resident gain skills in the operations of the oncology satellite pharmacies as well as consolidated clinical coverage of a variety of medicine and surgery services on the weekends.

Skills learned through this experience include detailed order review, order processing, and managing of pharmacy operational issues. Residents are required to gain experience in oncology satellite pharmacy one evening every 2 weeks as well as gain weekend coverage experience once every 3 weekends. Orientation for each of these experiences is included during the orientation learning experience in the beginning of the residency year.
