Rotation Title

Pharmacy Administration - Chatham Hospital and UNC Hillsborough Hospital

Rotation Description:

This administration rotation is a 4-week rotation that will specifically focus on the clinical and operational management aspects of Chatham Hospital and UNC Hillsborough Hospital. This will allow the resident to understand how each of these two, unique locations fit within the departmental, institutional, and health system structure.

This rotation is driven by the principles of the Value Management System (VMS) by engaging team members in the planning, management and execution of continuous quality improvement. The rotation provides residents opportunities in pharmacy leadership, human resource management, performance improvement, strategic planning, policy development, and project management. PGY2 residents will have the opportunity to be acting manager of the Hillsborough Inpatient Pharmacy.

Chatham Hospital, a member of the UNC Health Care System, is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital located in Siler City, NC. This hospital has provided health care to the residents of Chatham and surrounding counties for over 76 years in the areas of surgical, medical, pediatric and emergency medicine services. As a Critical Access Hospital, Chatham Hospital is able to utilize beds to provide interim care to patients who no longer require acute medical care, but need additional time and care for strengthening and recuperation before returning home.  The Chatham Hospital Pharmacy provides clinical and distributional pharmacy services to all patients of Chatham Hospital.

The UNC Hillsborough Hospital is an 83-bed Hospital located in Hillsborough, NC. The hospital footprint includes 65 acute care beds, 18 intensive care beds, six operating rooms, two procedure rooms, an emergency department, and outpatient medical and surgical specialty services, including GI medicine, Dermatology, Pain & Anesthesia, and Oncology Clinic services.  The Hillsborough Inpatient Pharmacy (HIP) and Hillsborough Outpatient Pharmacy (HOP) provide clinical and distributional pharmacy services for all patients in the ambulatory and acute care settings of the UNC Health Care - Hillsborough Campus.
