Rotation Title

Acute Care Oncology Float

Rotation Description

In the acute care setting, the pharmacy learner will be exposed to a variety of oncology and hematology (malignant and benign) disease states across all of the inpatient pharmacy services in the NC Cancer Hospital. Daily responsibilities include rounding with the medical team, counseling patients on chemotherapy, transitions of care, in-services to the healthcare team or pharmacy staff, patient presentations, and frequent topic discussions. Emphasis will be placed on evidence-based medicine in the treatment of malignancies. Topics covered may include, but are not limited to the following: AML, ALL, NHL, HL, febrile neutropenia, management of complications in solid tumors, and treatment of immune-related adverse events.
