Adult Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Ambulatory and Inpatient
This rotation will introduce the learner to the fundamentals of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in adults. Residents become familiar with the process of stem cell transplantation as well as its associated complications, including but not limited to, infections complications in the immunocompromised host, graft vs. host disease, and supportive care concepts in transplant. The learner will participate in a collaborative approach to the provision of patient care to this patient population.

Learners will get a chance to develop their skills in anticoagulation counseling and therapeutic drug monitoring. There will also be a glimpse into the workings of the factor stewardship program.

Rotation Description:
This outpatient experience allows the learner to have exposure to patients with a wide array of malignancies including acute leukemias, chronic leukemias, indolent and aggressive lymphomas, multiple myeloma, melanoma, lung cancer, breast cancer, and other solid tumors. The learner will have opportunities for direct patient care (medication therapy management, patient education); chemotherapy order writing; providing drug information questions to physicians, advanced practice providers, and nurses in a variety of our multidisciplinary clinics.
