Rotation Description:
The rotation provides exposure to leadership and management within health-system pharmacy, as well as medication use strategy and outcomes. The learner will be actively engaged with the Medication Management and Optimization, Strategic Sourcing and Shortages Management, and Analytics and Outcomes teams. The experience will provide a focus on formulary management and medication use optimization, sourcing and contracting, and managing drug shortages. Further, this experience will expose learners to strategies for integrating data and analytics within a department of pharmacy to drive decision making. Lastly, the learner will be involved with the System Research and Health Outcomes Program, and will understand the importance of demonstrating the value of pharmacy services through practice-integrated research. At the conclusion of the rotation, the learner is expected to understand the role of system-level pharmacy services, the multi-faceted medication use strategy leveraged at UNC Health, and the role of pharmacy-related data within the pharmacy enterprise. The learner will also understand strategies leveraged to identify and demonstrate the impact of pharmacy services.
