Rotation Description:
The pharmacy administration rotation at UNC Hillsborough Hospital will provide residents with an in-depth understanding of both clinical and operational management within a hospital setting. The rotation focuses on continuous quality improvement through active engagement in planning, management, and execution. Residents may gain hands-on experience in various aspects of pharmacy leadership, including human resource management, performance improvement, strategic planning, policy development, and project management.
Located in Hillsborough, NC, the 163-bed UNC Hillsborough Hospital offers diverse experiences across various service lines from internal medicine to surgery. Residents may be involved in clinical management and operational aspects, including unit-dose distribution, automation, controlled substances, and supply chain management. The rotation provides exposure to pharmacy practice models, safety culture, financial responsibilities, and team-building skills. With opportunities to lead process improvement projects, facilitate team meetings, and participate in strategic initiatives, residents may develop a well-rounded skill set essential for advanced roles in pharmacy administration.
