Rotation Description:
Residents will be exposed to a variety of cardiovascular disease states, including but not limited to, acute coronary syndromes, stable coronary artery disease, heart failure atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, pericarditis, endocarditis, pocket and device infections, valvular disease, and other rhythm disturbances requiring device placement.
During the rotation, residents will gradually build on their clinical skills to actively function as a key member of the cardiology team. Throughout the rotation, emphasis will be placed on integrating clinical guidelines and primary literature into the care of patients with cardiovascular disease. Residents will be involved in key activities including transitions of care, management of acute cardiovascular issues, development of a discharge medication regimen, communication of outstanding issues to outpatient providers, and patient counseling.
