Rotation Description:

UNC Hospitals Pain Management Clinic is committed to helping patients improve their quality of life and ability to function using a multi-disciplinary approach.  Learners will be exposed to a variety of painful conditions and disease states in this pharmacist-run ambulatory care clinic.  Optimizing nonopioid pharmacologic therapy, safe opioid prescribing and strategies to mitigate opioid related harms are emphasized.  Responsibilities include conducting a patient interview and obtaining medication histories, monitor current therapy, recommend evidence-based medication regimens and anticipate and identify medication related problems.  Activities also comprise of educating patients and providing drug information to patients and healthcare professionals.
