Rotation Description

The focus of this learning experience is efficient and high quality review of patient conditions and medication orders to ensure accuracy and appropriateness. The resident will also master familiarity with and operations within the accreditation, legal, regulatory and safety requirements pertaining to pharmacy services and the medication use system.  He/she will navigate formulary restrictions as well as drug shortages, all in an effort to ensure patient access to appropriate medication therapies.  If applicable, he/she will respond to pediatric rapid response and code situations as well as engage in reporting of new, unusual or severe pharmacotherapeutic events (e.g. adverse drug reactions, drug interactions, medication errors).
