Rotation Description
The UNCH Specialty & Home Delivery Pharmacy (SHDP) is a dual-accredited (URAC and ACHC), closed-door pharmacy servicing patients in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. The pharmacy offers financial services, prescription services, home delivery, a 24/7 on-call pharmacist, and a clinical management program to onboard patients to specialty medications. The Patient Engagement team that manages the clinical management program is a team of over 14 pharmacists who collaborate with interdisciplinary staff to facilitate care for patients. Currently, drugs and disease states covered include hematologic/oncologic conditions, inflammatory conditions, transplant, infectious diseases, cardiology, neurology, pulmonology, cystic fibrosis, and endocrine conditions.
The learner will engage with specialty pharmacy team members and other leaders as they navigate activities that include, but are not limited to, coordination, communication and implementation of new initiatives, evaluating and justifying specialty pharmacy resources, adaptation of coverage models as necessary, addressing daily needs/concerns of the specialty pharmacist, accreditation compliance, and retrieval and analysis of data to drive decision making.
