Rotation Title

General Pediatrics & Pulmonology 

Rotation Description:

The General Pediatrics & Pulmonology rotation at UNC Children’s hospital allows the resident to gain exposure to a variety of pediatric disease states. The pharmacy resident will be involved in the care of complex pediatric patients with medical illnesses related to renal, endocrine, metabolism, neurology, cardiology, gastroenterology, etc.  The learner will demonstrate knowledge of pathophysiology, pharmacotherapy, and disease states commonly seen in this patient population. Additionally, this rotation has a strong focus on transitions of care including medication access and providing discharge counseling. The multidisciplinary team consists of attending physicians, attending surgeons, medical residents, pharmacist, nurse coordinator, and bedside nurses. The resident will work closely with other healthcare professionals to provide therapeutic drug monitoring and answer drug information questions.
