Office of Medical Staff Services

The core function of the Office of Medical Staff Services (OMSS) is managing the credentialing, re-credentialing, and privileging processes for all Physicians and Allied Health Professionals at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC.

This involves maintaining provider credentialing files, Medical Staff Bylaws, and policies and procedures related to credentialing and privileging. OMSS collaborates with clinical departments, human resources and recruitment to ensure seamless coordination and operations for credentialing and privileging.

We provide support to the Associate Chief Medical Officer, Credentialing and Medical Staff Services and manage Credentials Committee meetings. We facilitate approval of provider credentials and privileges by the Medical Staff Executive Committee and Board.
