Office of Graduate Medical Education

Our Mission

Our mission is to cultivate the next generation of physicians and leaders who will enhance the health and well-being of North Carolinians and the broader communities we serve. Through a commitment to excellence in education, we empower our trainees to become competent, independent practitioners capable of delivering exceptional clinical care, driving innovative research, and mentoring future generations of physicians.

Welcome to GME at UNC Hospitals!

Licensure, benefits, payroll, credentialing and onboarding are just a few areas that are administered through our office. The Office of Graduate Medical Education also supports our residency and fellowship training programs in maintaining ACGME standards for accreditation.

The University of North Carolina Hospitals is a participating member of the National Resident Matching Program, Dental National Matching Service and other advanced residency matching programs.

We are pleased to offer this Web site as a resource to applicants, current and graduating residents, and program directors and coordinators of the residency training programs at UNC Hospitals. Please let us know how we can assist you.

Sincerely,

Yara Park, MD
Chief Graduate Medical Education Officer/ACGME Designated Institutional Official

David Zvara, MD
Chief Medical Officer
UNC Health Care System

Please note: This site is primarily for candidates interested in residency training programs at UNC Hospitals. If you are a current resident, or if you are a newly matched resident, please use the GME MedHub site.
