Tammerie Day, PhD, ACPE Certified Educator

Associate Director for Clinical Pastoral Education

Rev. Dr. Tammerie Day is Associate Director of Clinical Pastoral Education at UNC Hospitals and an ACPE Certified Educator. Tammerie is recognized and endorsed by the Alliance of Baptists and serves on their Board of Directors. Tammerie earned an M.Div. degree from Brite Divinity School in Fort Worth while pastoring a new church start, and then completed a Ph.D. in theology from Southern Methodist University. Tammerie has taught theology and religious studies in congregational, university and seminary settings, authored several books and numerous articles. She leads spiritual retreats, and is a frequent presenter on various aspects of spiritual care at state and national professional gatherings. Tammerie entered the UNC Hospitals Department of Pastoral Care in 2014 to undertake supervisory training and joined the staff full-time in 2017. Particular interests include trauma-informed care and caregiver and organizational resilience.

Robert Randy Hall, DMin, ACPE Certified Educator

Associate Director for Clinical Pastoral Education

Rev. Dr. Robert Randy Hall is an ACPE Certified Educator and an ordained Baptist minister. He is endorsed by and is a “Recognized Clergy” in the Alliance of Baptists. Randy‘s Doctor of Ministry degree was completed in 2007 through Graduate Theological Foundation. He received his Masters of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, in 1987. He completed his undergraduate degree from Furman University in 1984. He completed his supervisory education at Alamance Regional Medical Center (ARMC) in Burlington, NC. After completion of his supervisory education and as an ACPE Associate Supervisor (2008), he became the Director of CPE in the Pastoral Care and Counseling Department at ARMC (2009). He was granted ACPE Supervisor in 2010 and stayed at ARMC until August of 2013. He immediately entered the Pastoral Care Department at UNC Hospitals as contract supervisor and became a full-time member of the staff in December of 2013. Randy has served as an adjunct member of the Certification Committee for the Mid-Atlantic Region of ACPE (MARACPE). He is currently the Chair of the ACPE Accreditation Commission.

Stuart Harrell, MDiv, BCC, ACPE Certified Educator

Associate Director for Clinical Pastoral Education, UNC Hillsborough Campus

Rev. Stuart Harrell is an ACPE Certified Educator and an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ. Stuart completed a B.A. in Studio Art at Davidson College and a Master of Divinity Degree at Duke University Divinity School. He completed his supervisory training at Carolinas HealthCare System in Charlotte, NC. Prior to UNC, Stuart established a program of CPE at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC. Stuart serves as the Associate Director for the UNC Hillsborough Campus, teaching units of CPE and creating and maintaining connections to community organizations that serve marginalized populations. Stuart’s teaching interests include exploring the arts as opportunities for reflective practice, pastoral care as the practice of social justice, and the intersection of shame, vulnerability, and vocation with pastoral practice.
