Enhanced Security Screening at UNC Hospitals

Unless you are seeking emergency care, you will enter the hospital through one of the following entrances and pass through a security screening system.

• North Carolina Surgical Hospital
• N.C. Basnight Cancer Hospital

No weapons are allowed at UNC Health. Please leave all weapons or potentially harmful items in your locked vehicle, even if you have a concealed handgun permit.

Exceptions

Patients needing emergency care may enter the hospital through the Emergency Department.

If you are an OB patient seeking care, you and one support person will be able to enter at the N.C. Women's Hospital entrances. Please note that the N.C. Women's Hospital and N.C. Children's Hospital entrances will otherwise be exit only.

Blood Donation Center

There is no substitute for blood and people are the only source. You could save the life of a patient in need by making a plasma or platelet donation.

Gift Shop and Dining

The Cranberry Corner Gift Shop has everything you need - whether you’re looking for a unique gift, beautiful flowers or even a quick snack. If you don’t have time to stop by the gift shop, you can send a free Cheer Card to one of our patients.

If you’re interested in a more traditional dining experience, visit one of our cafes. Conveniently located throughout UNC Medical Center, the cafes offer several dining options in a casual setting.
