Virtual Intensive Outpatient Therapy
Virtual Intensive Outpatient Therapy provides young people ages 13–17 with treatment for general depression and anxiety, common conditions among many teens. We offer the education and skills that can help prevent bad situations from worsening and can help our patients better handle today’s world.
What to Expect
Virtual therapy is less complicated than inpatient treatment but significantly more intensive than traditional outpatient therapy, which is sometimes limited to one hour a week.
- Patients meet with psychiatrists and therapists three times a week for three hours for six weeks.
- Since treatment happens while participants are at home, the teens receiving this care can often keep a work or school schedule.
- Patients can practice the new skills they have learned with friends and loved ones at home.
Insurance
- We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC, the North Carolina State Health Plan and other commercial plans if the service is covered.
- UNC Financial Assistance is available for those who are uninsured and unable to pay for the service. Self-pay is also an option.
Physician Referrals
- To make a referral in Epic, select “AMB REFERRAL TO PSYCH” and “UNC PSYCHIATRY IOP CHAPEL HILL” as the location.
- Referrals can also be faxed to 919-957-6613.
