What to Expect
In cardiac rehab, you’ll work out with people with similar health issues. For your safety and reassurance, we have exercise physiologists and providers who are trained in advanced cardiac life support. At each exercise session, you’ll warm up, do aerobic exercises and then cool down.
Cardiac rehab is not just exercise. You’ll talk to dietitians about changes you can make to improve your health, get counseling and learn how to manage your health and reduce risk factors for a future heart attack.
Supervised Exercise Therapy for Peripheral Artery Disease (SET for PAD)
You’ll need a referral from your provider to participate in the SET for PAD program. This program is designed to help you with the pain that comes with PAD and includes the same services provided in cardiac rehab.
Costs
Your cardiac rehab is covered by Medicare Part B and by most insurers if you have had the following:
- Chest pain
- A heart attack within the last year
- Coronary bypass surgery
- A heart valve repair or replacement
- A heart or heart-lung transplant
- Stable chronic heart failure
Medicare covers part of the cost for SET for PAD. Financial counselors are available to help.
