WakeBrook - UNC Health Care Facility Based Crisis Services at WakeBrook

The UNC Health Care at WakeBrook Facility-Based Crisis Unit is a residential treatment facility providing services for Wake County residents  who have a mental illness, developmental disability and/or substance use disorder.   We provide care and treatment in a non-hospital setting for individuals in crisis who need sort-term evaluation, treatment and/or stabilization.  All services are provided by professionally trained licensed medical and clinical staff.    

What We Do

Our program is designed for adults residing in Wake County, and provides for psychiatric stabilization, including detoxification if individuals have a co-occurring psychotic disorder.  Under the direction of a psychiatrist, we provide this service by performing medical assessments and monitoring; psychiatric assessments and evaluation; individual, family, and group therapeutic services; physical  and leisure activities; and aftercare arrangements to help decrease the risk of relapse.  Our interventions are designed to stabilize the current crisis and teach the patient skills to avoid future crises. 

We are designed as an alternative to hospitalization for individuals in crisis.  Our goal is to provide competent and beneficial residential treatment services that will avoid or reduce the need for inpatient psychiatric hospitalization or emergency department evaluations.
