UNC Hospitals Jason Ray Transplant Clinic
The UNC Hospitals Jason Ray Transplant Clinic coordinates a range of life-saving transplant surgeries for patients with end-stage organ failure.
At our clinic in N.C. Memorial Hospital, we provide pre-transplant care for heart, lung, liver and kidney transplant patients and donors. Our expert clinical team will work closely with your referring provider, and our specially trained nurses will arrange your medical tests, listen to concerns and answer your questions. You’ll also be supported by a dedicated transplant coordinator throughout your treatment.
More Than Just a Name
When 21-year-old UNC Tar Heels mascot Jason Ray passed away from injuries due to a car accident in 2007, 118 people received his organs and tissue.
Because so many people received Jason’s tissue and organs, his story drew national attention and an estimated 46,000 Americans signed up to be organ donors as a result. In 2016, to remember and celebrate this beloved member of the UNC community, UNC Hospitals changed the name of its transplant clinic to the UNC Hospitals Jason Ray Transplant Clinic.
Your contributions to the Jason Kendall Ray Transplant Fund help to provide assistance with transportation, food and lodging for patients and their families as they go through transplant surgery and care.
