Visitor Restrictions

In order to protect patients during the peak of flu season, UNC Hospitals has implemented visitor restrictions:

Beginning Monday January 6, children ages 11 years old and younger are prohibited from visiting inpatients and inpatient waiting rooms at UNC Hospitals (including the Chapel Hill, Hillsborough and Wakebrook campuses, but excluding inpatient hospice) and are prohibited from perioperative waiting rooms at UNC Medical Center and Hillsborough Hospital. These restrictions were previously in place for the Newborn Critical Care Center (NCCC), Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), 5 Children’s/Intermediate Care (5CH) and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit (BMTU) at UNC Hospitals.

Surgical Tower Construction

The Surgical Tower construction project will have major impacts on the UNC Medical Center campus that will close the entrances of NC Memorial Hospital and NC Children’s Hospital, affect traffic patterns, and may have an impact on where patients are registered and discharged.

Please plan to allow for extra time when traveling to UNC Medical Center. More information at this link.
