Artist Statement

“At the deepest level, the creative process and the healing process arise from a single source. When you are an artist, you are a healer." -Rachel Naomi Renee, MD. In The American Journal of Public Health, "The Connection Between Art, Healing, and Public Health", researchers analyzed and published more than 100 studies about the positive impact of the arts & health. Acrylic on Vintage Vinyl was curated by Sarah Hamilton especially for the University of North Carolina's Women Hospital Gallery to celebrate the importance & positive benefits the arts, music and humanities create in our lives & our well-being.

Artist Bio

Sarah Hamilton is a Social Impact & Community Engagement Expert. She utilizes her art for advocacy and raising awareness for Nonprofits & Social Impact Initiatives. Her art has benefited initiatives for homelessness, health care, children’s performing arts & education, child welfare & a meditation benefit in partnership with Yale University and is currently on display at Fox Street Art & Nonprofit Resource Center in Denver. Sarah’s advocacy work resulted in her drafted proclamation accepted as an official North Carolina State Proclamation from Governor Roy Cooper declaring November National Arts & Humanities Month. This proclamation focuses on the arts and local, state levels, encourages individuals and organizations to participate in the arts, allows governments and businesses to show their support of the arts, and raises public awareness about the role arts and humanities play in our communities and lives.
