  • Test evaluates for BV, Yeast, and Trichomonas. 
  • Specimen collection guidance can be found here:

  • Unacceptable specimens:

    • Sources other than vaginal
    • Samples not submitted in the Xpert Swab Specimen Collection Kit
    • Samples containing the cleaning swab (large swab) instead of the collection swab
  • The Candida DNA targets include a Candida group result that includes but does not differentiate C. albicans, C. tropicalis, C. parapsilosis, and C. dubliniensis. A separate DNA target is used to report C. glabrata/C. krusei due to the increased likelihood of fluconazole resistance in these species.
  • The BV DNA targets include three anaerobic organisms associated with BV (i.e., Atopobium spp., BVAB2, Megasphaera-1). Detected organisms not reported individually.
