- Hepatitis C virus genotyping is performed using the Abbott RealTime HCV Genotype II Assay targeting the HCV 5'UTR, NS5B, and core regions. Genotypes 1-6 and subtypes (1a and 1b) are reported.
- A hepatitis C viral load of >500 IU/mL is required for genotyping.
