- Draw prior to transfusion.
- Specimens with suspected abnormal hemoglobins will have confirmatory hemoglobin electrophoresis and/or sickle cell solubility testing performed.
- All "Pre" Red Blood Cell exchange specimens from UNC Therapeutic Apheresis Service will be treated as STAT during our normal operational hours.
