Turnaround Time Routine 4 days.
Specimens with significant abnormalities not previously confirmed will have confirmatory testing performed once a week.

Comment
  • Draw prior to transfusion.
  • Specimens with suspected abnormal hemoglobins will have confirmatory hemoglobin electrophoresis and/or sickle cell solubility testing performed.
  • All "Pre" Red Blood Cell exchange specimens from UNC Therapeutic Apheresis Service will be treated as STAT during our normal operational hours.
