Testing is performed using Siemens Atellica Estradiol (eE2) Assay.  Different test methods should not be used interchangeably.  Heterophilic antibodies may cause interference.

The drug Fulrestrant may cause falsely elevated estradiol results in immunoassays.  There is potential for cross-reactivity with steroid-based medications with chemical structures like estradiol.

Results of this assay should be interpreted in conjunction with the patient’s history, clinical presentation, and other findings.  Additional testing by alternate methods (LC-MS for example) maybe indicated to confirm results.
