Ratio Interpretation: Normal-The CSF Albumin/Serum Albumin Ratio indicates normal permeability of the blood brain barrier and the IgG index does not suggest increased intrathecal IgG synthesis.

| Comments |
- Centrifuge, separate, and refrigerate serum sample within 4 hours of collection.
- A paired serum sample is required. Both samples should be collected at the same time; samples collected >24 hrs apart may be rejected. Transport samples to the laboratory together.
- Methodology: Isoelectric Focusing
This test is used to identify oligoclonal bands in the CSF of patients with neurological symptoms (such as multiple sclerosis).
- Not to be used to detect CSF leakage (Beta-2 Transferrin, Fluid).
