Testing is performed using OrthoClinical Diagnostics CA199 Immunoassay.  Different test methods should not be used interchangeably. 

Heterophilic antibodies may cause interference.  High doses of biotin may cause test interference.

Note: Patients genotypically negative for the Lewis blood group antigen will be unable to produce the CA 19-9 antigen even in the presence of malignant tissue.
