  • Collect in pre-chilled lavender top tube
  • Morning specimens (6am-10am) preferable
  • Deliver immediately to Core Laboratory on ICE
  • Sample must be spun in refrigerated centrifuge within 2 hours of collection.  (If a refrigerated centrifuge is unavailable, chill the centrifuge carriers.  Centrifuge the specimen for <=5 minutes, then promptly transfer plasma.)
  • Patients should not take multivitamins or dietary supplements containing biotin (vitamin B7)
