Our comprehensive benefits package is about making our employees' lives easier.
UNC Health Care is committed to offering a competitive benefits program for employees that extends beyond retirement contributions and health care benefits.
Within a culture of continuous improvement, UNC Health Care encourages employees to continue their education. Employees can take advantage of tuition and fee waivers at state universities, academic assistance reimbursement, college savings programs and more.
We offer Child Care Resource & Referral Programs, as well as a Dependent Day Care Flexible Spending Account (DDCFSA).
As part of the NCFlex benefits program, the DDCFSA offers tax-free reimbursement for child care and adult day care expenses. Employees may elect to set aside from $120 to $5,000 per year on a pre-tax basis.
UNC Health Care employees are automatically covered for a disability benefit through the Disability Income Plan of North Carolina.
Financial Education / Planning
We show employees the tools they need to make real gains in saving for themselves, a child, or anyone they care about.
Flexible Spending Accounts
Employees can set aside a predetermined amount of money on a pre-tax basis to pay for qualified expenses such as dental, vision, or supplemental medical insurance.
Our MetPay program offers employees valuable savings on home and car insurance.
Vision & Dental Insurance
Vision and Dental insurance is available for employees through the North Carolina Flexible Benefits Program (NC Flex).
Different families and individuals have different needs when it comes to health insurance. We offer three different levels of coverage to meet employees' personal needs.
And to help manage costs, we put 40% of the premium right back into employees' paychecks!
Employees have a variety of options for life insurance and accidental death and disability insurance.
Supplemental Medical Insurance
Specialty insurance programs for cancer and critical illness are available through NC Flex.
Paid Time Off (PTO)
We're aware of employees’ needs for time off from work, whether for planned rest and recreation, personal illness, or emergencies, and the importance of income continuation during those times.
Our Paid Time Off (PTO) program allows full-time, 40 hour employees to manage 300 hours (7.5 weeks) of PTO on their own and even sell back hours for cash.
Eligible employees may participate in either the Teachers’ and State Employees’ Retirement System (TSERS) – one of the top performing pensions in the nation; or the Optional Retirement Program (ORP), a defined contribution plan with TIAA-CREF or Fidelity.
In addition, employees may set-aside pre or post tax contributions in supplemental retirement plans to save even more for retirement.
