Each UNC Health Care department must determine the best use of budgeted funds for Continuing Education with regard to job related educational courses or certifications. The employee and supervisor must discuss the course, certification program, special study, etc., to determine whether the educational courses or certifications benefit the department.
Approval may require the employee to pay for the course and be reimbursed after verification of successful completion or the department may immediately pay for the course. The supervisor should contact Fiscal Services for their fund balance. Certificate programs are excluded from the hospital Reimbursement Program and the State Tuition Waiver Program.
