Comments Serum samples submitted for cryptococcal antigen testing are incubated with latex particles coated with murine IgM monoclonal antibodies to the cryptococcal capsular polysaccharide antigen (CPS).  Results are reported as negative or positive.  Positive results are accompanied by the endpoint titer determined by serial dilution of the patient’s serum.  False positive results have been documented with the polysaccharide antigen of Trichosporon beigelii.
